About the Role

Support the organization in ensuring full compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, contributing to risk mitigation, governance, and the development of policies and procedures that safeguard the company’s operations. The role will also support regulatory mapping and legal structuring initiatives required for the company’s expansion into new international markets.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards across all jurisdictions where the company currently operates or intends to operate.

  • Lead regulatory mapping and legal due diligence for new markets, ensuring that the organisation meets all requirements necessary to operate legally in each jurisdiction (e.g. licensing, consumer protection, tourism industry regulations, data protection, and financial compliance).

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate corporate risks across operational, legal, financial, and reputational areas, proposing preventive measures and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments affecting the travel, tourism, and digital platform sectors, ensuring that internal processes and policies remain compliant and proactively adapting the organisation to regulatory changes.

  • Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments, reporting key findings, recommendations, and mitigation plans to senior management.

  • Coordinate due diligence and compliance checks relating to partners, suppliers, technology service providers, and commercial partners, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual standards.

  • Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and supervisory bodies, ensuring timely responses and full compliance with regulatory obligations.

  • Prepare, review, and submit mandatory regulatory declarations, reports, and documentation to the relevant authorities (e.g. Banco de Portugal, Turismo de Portugal, consumer protection authorities, and equivalent bodies in other jurisdictions).

  • Provide legal advice in relation to international expansion initiatives, including licensing models, commercial structures, partnerships, and operational models.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, supplier agreements, partnership agreements, and compliance-related documentation.

  • Work closely with the Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Technology, and Operations teams, ensuring that the company's processes, systems, and operational workflows are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.

  • Support the Booking and Operations teams in the legal assessment and resolution of complex customer complaints, ensuring that responses comply with consumer protection legislation and contractual obligations.

  • Investigate potential breaches of internal policies, regulatory requirements, or ethical standards, conducting internal investigations and implementing corrective or preventive measures where necessary.

  • Promote a strong culture of compliance and legal awareness throughout the organisation through training sessions, guidance materials, and ongoing support to operational teams.

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, or risk management roles. Experience in the travel, fintech, digital platforms, or other regulated industries will be considered an advantage.

  • Familiarity with regulatory research and legal analysis, including the ability to interpret legislation and regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions, such as Portugal, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting legal documentation, international contracts, and internal policies.
